Welcome to the new Year 6 class of 2026-7! This year the children will be learning some amazing new things, reading some fascinating novels, learning about a variety of new topics, taking part in some great activities and getting prepared for the next chapter of their educational journey. Year 6 is a very rewarding and challenging year and together we will strive to achieve and be the very best we can by following our class values.

Year 6 Curriculum
Homework
Everyone at Northern is an explorer at school. We explore and celebrate our local environment, the diversity of the people within our community and others and are aware of the rights we have as children. Through lessons, assemblies, clubs and discussions we are able to express our own opinions and celebrate those of others.
Being a Northern Explorer means continuing these experiences and learning journeys outside of the school environment.
Take a look at our homework which is aimed at all children across school and as the booklet says, there is no right or wrong way to complete it.
We would love you to share your home learning with us throughout the year and then we can share pictures on here, in assembly and in class.
This homework will be supplemented by specific maths and English related homework.

Please see the letter and documents below to find out how we will be approaching the teaching of PSHE (Personal and Social Health Education) and RSE (Relationship and Sex Education) within Year 6 here at Northern. The documents are quite detailed but only because we want to be very open with what your child is being taught and to ensure that as parents you have all the facts. By doing so we hope to maintain a good partnership and working relationship with you as parents to ensure that we are providing the best education for your child together.
